SCALABLE TOOL FOR ACTIVE PLASTIC CATCH

We have to pick it up!

1

Get rid of landfills and make on shore waste

a valuable resource

Sustainable development Goal 14

Over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.

SDG 14.1 :

By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution

The Challenge

Millions of tonnes of plastic waste in the oceans

The harm it causes

Plastic does a lot of harm in the

maritime biotopes.

Microplastic enters mussels, marine mammals eat plastic bags, seabirds eat plastic fragents and smaller items.

Not to mention nano plastic entering cells, plastic could also act as a “carrier” of other poisonous and toxic substances.

What we have to do

There are three avenues:

1

Get rid of landfills and make on shore waste

a valuable resource

Our solution

Clear Ocean does not believe that it is possible to clean up  the Pacific Ocean or any other large sea for all plastics.

However, during specific occations, locations and under other conditions the concentration of plastic waste is so high that it will be meaningful to pick it up while at sea – given access to the proper tool.

Clear Ocean has developed a tool which is:
•    easy-to-use,
•    inexpensive and
•    scalable

Our trawl can be used locally in ports, along seaside, in rivers and elsewhere. It will be possible to connect many trawls if necessary.

Our equipment can be shipped as a kit and assemble on location.
